Weekend Edit

A weekend edit is for the days the dress code goes home and your standards should not. Weekend outfits for women, in the LAV & DC sense, are linen dresses and trousers, oatmeal cardigans, cream knits, wine polos and cardigans, charcoal overshirts, sand sets, the cropped stone blazer, the stripe blouse, the jersey travel dress if you are leaving town. Soft, not sloppy.

We do not sell denim or trainers. If that is your Saturday, this page will still give you the layer that makes those things look like a decision. If Saturday is a lunch, a gallery, or a train, you can dress entirely from this grid. The French habit of looking finished without looking employed lives here as much as on French Style — with more sand and less navy.

Business Casual is the informal office. Weekend Edit is the informal life. Some garments appear on both because Friday is a border. The copy does not. If you are shopping for a workplace that said “jeans on Friday,” start on Business Casual. If you are shopping for the two days you do not owe a calendar, stay here.
